Intro 01:18
Fast forward to the year 2050, Dan sends a message to Member Jerry: "Remember back when, When we rocked the pandemic? We should get the band back together again." Started just for fun in 2020 But we had a hit and we made some money. We tried so hard to repeat our successes, But the songs became unoriginal messes. “It's 2050 fans miss Members Mostly!” So let's go on tour. "It's 2050 we miss Members Mostly!" So download Ableton 60. “It's 2050 fans miss Members Mostly!” Grab some space mics. “It's 2050 fans miss Members Mostly!” So hop on our jet bikes. Then we had a gig with some bad pyrotechnics Nobody died, but somebody sued us. In '32 the last record flopped Didn't even chart, we decided to stop.

91 02:28
My friends and I, Yeah, we're starting a band Planned it out in the back of my mom's van Listening to SubPop in '91 We're not like you, the stuff you like is dumb. When we're in a band All our jokes will land, We'll have girlfriends and Everything will be okay. Back home Mom's working late again. Called up Dan And talked about our mixtape. 120 Minutes on the TV, We'll turn our amps up And the songs will come to you and me. When we're in a band All our worries end, We'll be happy and Everything will be okay. After school We'll eat a frozen pizza, Smoke banana peels And listen to Dead Milkmen Backstage in the green room at the Metro Yeah, we'll play Budokan soon enough. When we're in a band All our jokes will land, We'll have girlfriends and Everything will be okay.

Wolf Talk 02:03
Dad I gotta know what's goin' on - Waking up hungry in the middle of the night, uh-oh! Stuff is going down and it's weirding me out The other kids at school wanna make me howl. Kid, I know this might be hard to grasp But now we live in town And you're growing up oh so fast. Your mum's a wolf mum, And you're gonna get older, We gotta face facts: You're gonna be a teenage wolf. Feeling kind of funny and it's making me crazy I dunno what to do and it makes me wanna scream and shout. Got hair growing out of some weird places, Gotta sleep it off, don't wanna be a teenage wolf. Saw you sneaking out through the bedroom window, It's a quarter past late and you feel a little more than strange But it's gonna be all right, No, you don't have to worry - You're gonna rip it up: You're gonna be a teenage wolf.

56 cities in 46 days, Dreams are coming true And we’re even getting paid. Making new friends But we're always parting ways Future's so bright that we've gotta wear shades. We met John Peel in 2003 Doing a live set on the BBC, Opened up for Mogwai on the tour overseas And talked to Thurston Moore at the after party. 4AD is calling - let’s quit our day jobs We crossed the finish line running different directions. I've got big plans, baby We've got a hit in Japan We’re climbing up the charts just as fast as we can! All I ever wanted was to be someone All I ever wanted was to live forever Another sold out show We’re never getting old Pass the crystal cup I'll never give it up! Boys, we're gonna rock forever. Woke up on a sofa somewhere in Auckland I swear you said we were playing in Scotland? 23 hours till our next show Is this the top of the mountaintop, Peak or plateau? Big time's calling, we quit our day jobs A little premature, but our fans still love us We're a big deal, baby, we're charting in Berlin! But we're running out of luck, Should we maybe reign it in? All I ever wanted was to be someone All I ever wanted was to live forever Another sold out show We’re never getting old Pass the crystal cup I'll never give it up Because we're gonna live forever!

Boys: We had a good run. We played London, Tokyo, Columbus, and Oakland. But now it's time to move on, It’s time for the good life. And now, now that I'm free, To be with my baby, I miss everything. Always thought I would be happy - But the grass is green All of the time on the other side. So long, so long, so long - Gave up half of my dreams So I can be happy. So, this is the end, This is our final show. We're putting on the smiles Until the curtain call. But before I say goodbye, You'll find a way to get me down. And before I'm even gone, I know that you are moving on. Always thought I would be happy But the grass is green All of the time on the other side. So long, so long, so long - Gave up half of my dreams So I can be happy.

‘60’s psych crooner stuck in the ‘80s Distant relations, weird times again these days All we ever wanted was to the befriend the ladies. You could be so close, But still miss the premise. Twice a week I practice When you finish your classes. His band had bridges and fences Obscured all the lyrics, Was the battlement defenseless? But we had bridges and fences. Fuzzed out vocals, Guitar in weird tunings We understood each other like alien siblings. Can’t share our feelings, or talk to each other. What happened to us? I lack understanding. The weight of the world of the world Is all so demanding. The weight of the world of the world - It’s all so demanding.

Hey Ben, did you get my text? I haven't heard back from you yet. It's been a long time since we rocked in the band, And I'm wondering where you've been at? One more thing if you get this text: (I haven't heard back from you yet!) I’ve got a favor to ask about the rights to our song: The lawyers want to get your consent. Hey! I think I was ghosted By a former bandmate? Hey Ians, I don't care what the lawyers want me to do. It's been a really long time since all of us talked, And I just want to hear from you. One more thing if you get this text: (I haven't heard back from you yet!) I've got a question to ask about your new address And I hope that our friendship will last. Hey! I think I was ghosted By a former bandmate? Hey Will, I know I knew Alana before I knew you. We worked together at Chambers and Chambers When I asked her what drummers she knew. Numbers change, I hope you got my text - I want to see your kids and Curtis. I'm not making excuses, But I moved to the Midwest And I hope that our friendship will last. Hey! I think I was ghosted By a former bandmate?

I've got a message from the label For Jerry and Dan: "You've got a number one hit, And you'd better not quit!" Now these record execs Are breathing down our necks And while the kids are gettin’ down, We're working on our sound. Got to write an other riff, track another lick Mix another mix for this Members Mostly hit. Mic another kick, fix another clip Keep the bass poppin' For this Members Mostly hit. Back in '23 we were living the dream ‘Till these A&R reps started crashing our scene. Fifty-somethings trying to seem cool to teens Wearing skinny jeans, Hoping that it’s still a thing. Got to write an other riff, track another lick Mix another mix for this Members Mostly hit. Mic another kick, fix another clip Keep the bass poppin' For this Members Mostly hit. We got a new producer, We don’t know who he is But he’s autotuned my voice, Said he doesn’t have a choice. It was 2027 when we caught our third wind - When Fantano panned our album, We should have known it was the end. But we’ll write an other riff, track another lick Mix another mix for this Members Mostly hit. Mic another kick, fix another clip Keep the bass poppin' For this Members Mostly hit.

Oh, we gotta dance dance Like Plastic Scrayzee! I think I am maybe just a little bit... Back, back, back in the 90's I thought we had everything, baby. Woke up a little bit hazy 45 years and I'm saying: Oh, we gotta dance dance Like Plastic Scrayzee! I think I am maybe just a little bit... Oh, I wanna dance dance - Yeah we gotta dance dance.

about

Back in the 90's, two kids dream of starting a rock band, and eventually do.

They have a hit 7" single (Teen Creeps b/w Wolf Talk), but success takes its toll, leading to animosity and disillusionment ultimately resulting in the band's breakup. They go their separate ways, start families, and try to make sense of the past as they adjust to life after rock'n'roll.

In 2020, the world is struck by a global pandemic. With a tangible sense of mortality, the two rekindle their friendship and begin a new recording project. Although it starts out being just for fun, they accidentally have a hit song. A record label swoops in and pressures them to milk it long past the point of relevance.

After a series of disastrous shows, and having their albums panned by critics, they finally call it quits in their 50s. But then, in the year 2050, now in their 70s, they get back together for one last tour - for their nostalgic fans, for a lifetime of friendship, and for the pure love of rock’n’roll.
